Sledding

Winter is in full force here in Tsay Keh Dene!

Looking at the back of our house.

Kids riding skidoos pulling other kids is a regular sight around here.

Today we decided to give sledding another chance. I find you spend more time digging the stupid thing out of the snow than riding but today we didn't get stuck.
Other than nearly flipping it it went pretty smoothly.

Our Christmas tree.

Yes that temperature is correct!

Glad I'm inside toasty warm:)

All from the kitchen window

Well if you know me at all you know I am not a fan of being cold or the entire season of winter for that matter. As a result I haven't left the house unless necessary & that means only to go to work. I have been getting some nice surprises though, all from the comfort of my house. It's amazing what you see from the kitchen window...

For 3 days I would look out the window and see this cute little bird feeding away on seed.

This morning I opening the blinds to a pleasant surprise...
The pictures truly don't do it justice & I must say this was 1 of the best sunrises I have seen since I have been up here.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Since I changed my blog to the winter format, I decided a more wintery post was needed.
This morning I looked out the kitchen window and what did I see?

This one was camera shy...

Koloa watching the horses as they head to the side of the yard.

I decided I should go to the backyard and play, taking a few shots with my new camera.

Meanwhile inside...
Ilo & Koloa were cuddled up warm.

And there still much more snow to come...

Fall's Last Hurrah

I just love the fall & all the colour. Too bad fall is only a month long up here!
These pictures were taken in Fort Ware.

The snow is working it's way down the mountains...

Although the colours aren't as vibrant and varying as they were last year, it's still beautiful.
These are some pictures I took a few weeks ago when Melanie & I went quadding in Tsay Keh.
The leaves have almost completely fallen now, and winter is creeping closer...

I was thinking about my things to experience in the north and have a few outstanding items...
See a grizzly bear, experience the northern lights, & snowshoe...
Today we decided to check 1 of those things off, grabbed the camera and went looking for bears.

After looking for a bit with no luck Aaron decided to take a break and do some fishing in the Chowika River. I took the opportunity to play with my new camera:)

Aaron caught a large Dolly, but it's catch & release so he's still in the Chowika.

Oh the suspense...

Then I gave it a try, but gave up when my hands got too cold.

Then it was back to looking for grizzly bears...
And boy did we get lucky, although it wasn't the momma & baby bear we saw 2!

The first bear

Bear #2

AWESOME!
