A Visit Home

First thing I did before even going to the island was get a haircut from my fantastic hairdresser Jazzmin at Pizzaz in Langley:) Great haircut and it only takes quite literally 5 minutes to do!

Although I have no pictures from my visit my wonderful friend Sarah & her family who were kind enough to have me stay with them. Sarah & I went out for sushi & saw the movie 'The Help' which was 1 of the best movies I have ever seen.
I also enjoyed a Fort Langley visit with my fantastic massage therapist Kim, this was just a social visit no massage this time. We planned on going for a walk, but the rain & wnd disagreed so we took in the atmosphere at Wendle's coffee shop.

What have I been up to since I've been back in Campbell River? Well...

I was so excited for a visit with my nephews, Kane & Kole...
They have grown so much!

Canning salmon...
While canning, I killed time by completing the pleasure craft operators certificate...

Taking in awesome sunsets...

Riding my motorcycle...

Today Dad & I went fishing at Wowo Lake.

My dinner...

As we were cruising along 3 bull elk came down to the lake for a drink & swim.
It was AMAZING!

There were so many frogs in the lake.

Wild Blueberries

The Huckleberry branches were packed with berries!

The view toward Middlenatch Island.

Yummy trout on my plate!

Tonight I went to Rotary Beach Park where they have the memorial garden.
Yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of my Grandma (my Mom's Mom)'s passing.
I took some carnations, which were her favorite to where we have a plaque in her memory.

I love her & miss her every day...

I have also had visits with my friends Jess & her hubby Dave as well as Cheryl, but once again no pictures! I really need to start taking more pictures when I'm with my friends. I always have my camera in my purse but never think to pull it out. Silly me! Next week I will...

So that's a recap of my first week in Campbell River.
1 week to go... so stay tuned for the next post!

VISITORS!!!!!!

My good friend from University Kim was working at the Khutsedzi k' e' Camp with Matt after I left. (I'm not sure she'll ever forgive me for roping her into that haha). After they got out we spent a night in Fort Ware & then headed to Tsay Keh.

Kim & I went quadding to Ingenika the old town site that was flooded.
Along the way we saw a big beaver. At first I thought it was a bear and madly went in reverse to get as far away as possible. Maybe some residual trauma from the 'Bear Mountain' incident...

Unfortunately right after I took these pictures my camera died (I did however go back to Ingenika on my own a few days later & the pictures are at the bottom of this post).

July 31 was Christmas in July!!!!
Oh tuuuuurkey!

The following day we had a turkey hang over & decided to burn it off &
Kim & I went kayaking on my favorite Blue Lake.

The next day Aaron, Matt, Kim, & I went quadding up 15,000 road looking for berries.
Unfortunately it's still a little too early for the berries:(

In the evening we had a fire in the backyard, ate smores,
Matt played his guitar, & Kim & I drummed & sang.

There was a group of youth having a fire near the field & they clapped & cheered for us which was pretty cool. I'm sure we were the talk of the rez for the remainder of the evening.

Before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye to my friends.
It was hard letting them go, but I know I will see them again...
just not in Tsay Keh...

I went back to Ingenika to take some pictures, since my camera died when Kim & I were quadding. Here are the pictures I took on my little solo journey.

The land in Ingenika has a very sad and lonely feel to it.
I think this next photo perfectly captures the sadness that once was Ingenika.

I nearly missed this place hidden in the trees, until I saw a little bit of fence. This particular place had a really eerie feel to it. I had an unwelcome feeling that I wasn't alone & got out of there...

On my way back to Tsay Keh I was cruising along & a bear jumped out right in front of me. It paused for a moment and we stared at each other. I jammed on the brakes and when I came within 2 feet of the bear it ran off. It was a pretty fair sized bear, but please forgive me I didn't get any pictures. After the last bear incident I wasn't hanging around.
