August 2020

Kenna-Rae continues to meet her milestones: she had her first time going to the bathroom on the potty, all 4 molars that were in progress have poked through, and she ate with a fork. The adventures continue!

We have tried to get in some visiting with immediate family, over the summer as we go into the fall being more isolated.

I continue to work via Telehealth, which I will be doing for the remainder of this year and likely beyond. For work, Aaron spent the summer overseeing service to Denman and Hornby Islands, which he quite enjoyed. Other than that, not much for us grown ups.

I apologize for the gaps and lack of flow in the format, I am trying to get the hang of the new blogger, and haven't yet figured parts of it out. I prioritized getting my post done over waiting and figuring out the formatting.

July 2020

Once again I have fallen a bit behind on my blog. Blogger changed some of their formatting, and it took me a little bit of time to learn how to work with the changes.

July brought new milestones for Kenna-Rae: she shook her head no, started putting books away on the shelf, her top right molar poked through, has made the transition to drinking cows milk, and had her first poop in the bath tub. Kenna-Rae also decided to make the transition from 2 naps to 1. Aaron and I didn't feel quite ready for the nap transition, but not feeling ready feels like a consistent theme of parenting!

The look of determination. Someone once told me that I walk with intention, and I think I passed that on to Kenna-Rae

I have been trying to remember back to July to think about what was going on for Aaron and I, and I can't remember a single thing... better luck for August???

June 2020

13 months old. Kenna-Rae is not only walking but running around the house non stop. She has 8 teeth and we can see a couple of molars that should be pushing through soon. We have continued with a period of sleep regression, which has left the grown ups feeling more tired than usual. Luckily things seem to be back on track for the most part. Kenna-Rae has been using new random words and more sign language. She now says nana for nap nap when she is tired and taps on her bedroom door to let us know it is time for sleep. When we say potty, she is going to her potty and sitting on it. She is now waving to people through the window. She enjoys garbage, recycle, and yard waste pickup, and the yard waste guy always waves to her which she gets quite excited about. She still loves music and dancing and we have little dance parties most days, and of course just loves her books. Right now she especially loves books with dogs, and seeing dogs at the beach or when we are out walking.

I will include a little update on Aaron & myself at the bottom of the post.

A future pianist like daddy?

Some days the Ergobaby is just the best place to be

Aaron and I have been managing the Covid-19 Pandemic pretty well. As essential workers, Aaron and I have both continued working throughout the pandemic, which has helped us maintain a consistent structure in our family.

Since returning to work in March, Aaron is enjoying his new role supervising the bike section, and overseeing rural services to Denman Island and Hornby Island. Aaron's work schedule changes with days one week and nights one week, so scheduling the nanny around my work just made sense. On Aaron's days off he has been doing a lot of work around the yard, building and planting a couple more garden boxes, as well as landscaping the front yard. It looks amazing!

Our lovely nanny Tabitha has continued coming when I am at work. I am currently going to my office downtown and offering my counselling services through Telehealth Wednesday to Friday. Prior to Covid-19 I had a wait list, but since the pandemic I am running at about 50-75% capacity depending on the week. This seems pretty consistent in my field. Many counsellors have resumed in person session recently, but I do not foresee changing my delivery of service from Telehealth until there is a vaccine for Covid-19 and we have received it. I do miss doing my work in the same physical space as my clients, but the Telehealth options is better than nothing.

We have continued to live in a pretty small bubble since March, even with things opening here to phase 2 and soon phase 3, we have not made many changes to our isolation other than a very small expansion of our socially distanced bubble. Aaron does the majority of the shopping on his way to or from work, we are wearing masks when out in stores, and sanitize everything before it comes into the house (ourselves included). I am a higher risk of having complications such a blood clot leading to pulmonary embolism if I get Covid-19, due to a genetic condition I have called Factor V Leiden. We are not sure whether I have passed this genetic condition on to Kenna-Rae or not, so we are not taking any risks.

We are enjoying our time as a family, and savouring the moments as we watch Kenna-Rae grow.
