Port Hardy

Aaron had been asked to play goal for the Campbell River Old Timers in Port Hardy, and I was extra excited not only because it's been nearly two decades since I was last in Port Hardy, but because it provided and opportunity to see my friend Christine and her awesome family.

Saturday morning we were off!
Along the way we stopped in Sayward for a visit with my Grandpa & Grandma.

I was the only spouse who came for the trip so I had my cheering cut out for me.

Sunday morning we walked with Christine and her family along the Quatse Loop. It was a beautiful walk, and I can just imagine how even more gorgeous it is in the summer or fall.

Saltspring Escape

We feel so lucky to have had this opportunity for a quick getaway to our friend's place on Saltspring Island.  This was a much needed opportunity to disconnect from the outside world since the last few months have been so busy and intense.  I hadn't realized how truly wound up I was and it was so great to just relax and be fully present.

Our chariot arrives!

We made it in on time for a lovely sunset.

Our first day was a major opportunity to sleep in and decompress.  I literally spent the entire day watching and listening to the animals and reading.  Aaron got out more then me & went to hang out on the dock.
Listening to the squirrel & raven

We enjoyed the last of the day's light out on the bluff.

Sunset yoga on the bluff. We managed to do yoga every night.

Aaron taking pictures of the seals

We laid on the dock watching the seals and all the little fish in the water,
as we contemplated going for a kayak.

Then we saw this sea lion and I changed my mind on the kayaking.

I decided to stay on the dock...

If ever there is a cat around it will cross paths with Aaron. Cats love Aaron, Aaron loves cats!

Enjoying the orchard

 Mmmmm Crabapples!

Cutest baby raccoon

Aaron picked some crabapples which I will make jam with, as well as some apples for him to make a pie:)

Our last evening we went for a walk to enjoy the quiet and beauty around us.

Before we knew it, it was time to head back home.

All these years being so close and this was my first year at the Filberg Festival in Comox.  April, Keiarah, Emberlyn and I enjoyed a day in the sun checking out all the festival has to offer.

Tribal Journey 2017

It was such an amazing experience sitting on the beach at Tyee Spit watching over 100 canoe families complete their final paddle of Standing Together Tribal Journey 2017.  I am not one for crowds, but this was an event I could not miss.  By luck I ran into my nephews and it was great to share in this together.  To see the canoe families welcomes ashore after their long journey, and witness some of the protocol is something I will not forget!
